The 200-hour TTC is now completed;

- Now, we have already started the 300 hour TTC
        => February 11 to March 26, 2012

For the 300 hour we need people to attend our classes FOR FREE, classes that the TTC students teach (practicum). In attachment, please find the timetable for February (we will post March later). We thank you in advance for joining these free classes.

It is residential, in an hotel-cum-yoga room, and accommodation and food included

Besides attending our free classes, you can join any of the classes taught by the teacher for 200 Rps each time. Classes are asanas, pranayama, or philosophy, anatomy, yoga therapy... If you are interested please ask Dominique the time table at 8057652231 (Indian mobile phone number)

Long time ago TTCs lasted 9 months. Clearly, a 200 hour TTC is just the minimum time to start teaching, it only gives a glimpse on the whole of what teaching yoga involves. Dominique likes to keep in touch with her 200-hour TTC students and knows how much they can forget and therefore what needs to be reviewed and ascertained before going ahead. With this 300-hour TTC, we go deeper into each topic, and we add Yoga-Therapy. Practicum becomes much more important than in the Level 1. In Philosophy, we review the foundations of Yoga then we study specific areas of the Yoga Philosophy. Anatomy starts by briefly reviewing what we’ve studied in the level 1, then going to new matters.
There will be 30 hours of nutrition, not what you can find on nutrition manuals, but the close relationship asana-nutrition-pranayama.
Level 2 is more interactive than Level I TTC. Students are encouraged to animate, participate by asking questions, giving their opinion, debate, etc. At that stage, students have more maturity, more experience already. You will have more practicum than in the 200 hour TTC.

点击下载此文件
点击下载此文件

点击下载此文件
点击下载此文件

A teacher, especially a yoga teacher, is not someone who can do all kinds of amazing yoga postures, but someone who can TRANSMIT her knowledge.
She is not the most flexible or stronger yoga teacher in the world, in China or even in Shanghai, but she has an exceptional sense of observation and of priority
She explains clearly, she guides the students into getting in touch with their sensations, with their subtle body made of energy, through the physical aspect of the asanas
She has studied all aspects of yoga for decades: asanas, pranayama, philosophy, anatomy, psychology, etc. and other topics: that’s why she possesses a deep general culture and she uses this huge background into her teachings. In daily life, she doesn’t make any difference between life and practice. And she has been on this planet for 59 years already!

YOGAYANTRA's 500-HOUR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING COURSES - CONTENT & FAQs

LEVEL 1: 200 HOURS

CONTENT OF THE COURSE
1. Techniques & Practice: asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation, and other traditional yoga techniques. These hours are a mix between (1) analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques, and (2) guided practice of the techniques themselves 115 hours
2. Teaching methodology: principles of demonstration, observation, assisting/correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, and the student's process of learning, and business aspects of teaching yoga 25 hours
3. Anatomy & Physiology. Includes both “Western” Human Physical Anatomy and Physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and “yogic” Anatomy (cakras, nadis, etc.). Basic anatomy and physiology needed to understand yoga (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc.). The study then is about 1. enhancing your practice; 2. Improve your own ability to increase your strength, flexibility, endurance; 3. Prevention of injuries (my priority!); 4. And use yoga to recover from various conditions (though yoga therapy is taught in the 300 hour TTC); Introduction to Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine, and shiatsu as related to yoga. 20 hours
4. Yoga Philosophy, lifestyle, & ethics for yoga teachers. Includes the study of Yoga philosophy (Scriptures: Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, etc.), yoga lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers: what is “living the life of a Yogi”? 30 hours
5. Practicum: practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching and teaching, giving feedback. Also includes assisting students while someone else is teaching 10
TOTAL 200 hours

Note: this schedule will vary slightly according to the students’ needs

Q: Can I join the TTC if I am a first-timer?
A: Here I quote the testimony of one of the first timers who joined one of my TTCs. “You are my first and great teacher. I've learnt a lot from this course, not only yoga but also the way to face challenges. It's my luck to decide to take this course. (Send my love to your cats.)” TNT. (July 2010, Hanoi, Vietnam) I can’t say, ‘she improved’ because she started from the very beginning. She finished the TTC as an ‘advanced’ practitioner, this mean she developed awareness of her body and how it functions.

Q: Can I join the TTC if I am a beginner?
A: If I accept first-timers in my 200-hour TTCs, of course I accept beginners.

Q: what style of yogasana do you teach?
A: I usually teach VINYASA YOGA style, but I don’t hesitate to bring other techniques from other traditions if these prove to enhance our practice. I want to remain totally free from any ‘system’ even from Vinyasa method itself, which I consider the best and the most open of all that has been developed in the field of yogasana.

Q: What if I don't want to become a yoga-teacher?
A: Actually, probably less than 20% of the students attending a TTC don’t want to become yoga teachers, at least now. But a TTC is certainly the only way to understand what we are doing on a yoga mat, to understand that yogasanas are only the visible part of a vast spiritual path. There is much more to Yoga than just asanas. And you may, one day, teach.

Q: Can I attend the course if I am pregnant, if I have a health issue
A: First of all, a 200-hour TTC has some 65 hours of asanas only. The rest is pranayama, meditation, medical anatomy with heavy emphasis on prevention of injuries, yogic anatomy, teaching methodology, philosophy… There is much more to a course than just yogasana. Moreover, most asanas have variations ―and it’s part of the programme to study them― to suit all kinds of practitioners.

Q: What if I miss some hours in the TTC?
A: Because Yoga Alliance allows the schools not to teach with physical presence for 10% of the TTC duration (20 hours), I thus allow (but not encourage) students to be absent for a maximum of 20 hours, for valid reasons of course. But if you happen to be absent for over 20 hours, I will find a way for you to catch up so that sooner or later, through homeworks for instance, you can prove that you have indeed caught up. Then I will send you the certificate (usually by post office and also scanned certificate by email).

Q: What if I get sick during the TTC?
A: If you get sick, whenever it is possible, better come and watch rather than stay home, if possible. You can also learn a lot by watching your co-students.

Q: Which books do you recommend for the TTC?
A: only four books are required for the TTC. Then I’ll give you a long list of books to further your knowledge in Yoga. These 4 books are:
• Light on Yoga by B.K.S. Iyengar ：瑜伽之光
• The Yoga Sūtra of Patañjali, in your own language, or preferably in English (a good translation is by Georg Feuerstein). 巴坦加里的瑜伽经
• The Bhagavad Gita, a good translation is by Ecknath Easwaran and also by W.J. Johnson (Oxford World’s Classics) (please NOT the translation by AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada). 薄伽梵歌 中國瑜珈出版社, 台湾发行繁体字版本,
• Anatomy book: any anatomy book with clear anatomy plates in colour. I can recommend “Know Your Body. The Atlas of Anatomy” by Trevon Weston. 大英人体自查彩色图谱团结出版社 in Chinese
At the end of the TTC, I’ll give you a (long) list of ‘Resources and bibliography’ for your further studies.

LEVEL 2: 300 HOURS
A 300 hour TTC is for students who already have a 200 hour TTC from any schools. Yogayantra accepts any background.

In this level 2, we go deeper into each topic —anatomy, philosophy, and we study some Yoga-Therapy. Practicum becomes much more important than in the Level 1.
Philosophy: we review the foundations of Yoga and we study specific areas of the Yoga Philosophy. Yogayantra usually teaches the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita in the Level 1 (200 hours) TTC. We study the great world of Tantra and Vedanta in the Level 2 (300 hours).
Anatomy starts with briefly reviewing what we’ve studied in the level 1, then we go much deeper, for instance with an in-depth understanding of the bandhas, etc.
This level 2 should be much more interactive than the Level 1. Students are encouraged to animate by asking questions, giving their opinion, etc. especially in the field of philosophy where youshould already have some experience.

CONTENT OF THE COURSE
1. Techniques & Practice: asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation, and other traditional yoga techniques. 150 hours
2. Teaching methodology: principles of demonstration, observation, assisting/correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, and the student's process of learning, and business aspects of teaching yoga 20 hours
3. Anatomy & Physiology. Normally we’ve studied yogic anatomy (cakras, nadis, kundalini...) in the TTC Level 1, but we’ll review in particular for those who do not have a 200 hour TTC from Yogayantra and may not have studied this topic in-depth. Then we deepen “Western” Applied Anatomy and Physiology of hatha yoga needed to understand yoga-asana and practice SAFELY (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc.). The study then is about 1. enhancing your practice; 2. Improve your own ability to increase your strength, flexibility, endurance; 3. Prevention of injuries again (my priority!); 4. And use yoga to recover from various conditions: now Yoga Therapy is introduced with various case-studies; Revisions of Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine, and shiatsu as related to yoga. 20 hours
4. Applied Nutrition to hatha yoga 25 hours
4. Yoga Philosophy, lifestyle, & ethics for yoga teachers. Includes the study of Yoga philosophy: I first make sure you have assimilated the roots of Yoga, the history of its development. Then Vedanta and Tantra. Since Vajrayana (Tibetan Buddhism) is pure Tantra and Yoga we also cover this topic 30 hours
5. Practicum: practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching and teaching, giving feedback. Also includes assisting students while someone else is teaching 25 hours
6. Nutrition and if possible, 3 days of cleansing for those who wish 30 hours
TOTAL 300 hours

Note: this schedule is not set in stone and will vary according to the students’ needs

For both levels, based on 8 hours a day, we study from 7 am to 10 am; brunch from 10 am to 11 am. We study again from 11 am to 2 pm then we have a tea break from 2 to 3 pm. We finish at 5 pm. The rhythm is 5 days on 1 day off (you can ask for the calendar).
It can also be 8.00 am to 6.00 pm if the majority of students wish so.

For an example of daily schedule for 200, 300 hour TTCs, please download the whole document at the bottom of this, by clicking on the Chinese characters.

300 hour TTC FAQs

Q: Can I join the 300 hour TTC if I am a first-timer?
A: No you can’t. You must have a 200-hour teacher training course, from Yogayantra or from any other school, whatever their tradition

A: Actually, less than 20% of the students attending a TTC don’t want to become yoga teachers.

A: A 300-hour TTC has some 87 hours of asanas only including pre and post-natal yoga. The rest is pranayama, meditation, anatomy, teaching methodology, philosophy, nutrition, and practicum. There is much more to a course than just yogasana. Moreover, most asanas have variations ―and it’s part of the programme to study them― to suit all kinds of practitioners.

Q: What if I miss some hours in the TTC?
A: Because Yoga Alliance allows the schools not to teach with physical presence for 10% of the TTC duration (30 hours in a 300 hour TTC), I thus allow (but not encourage) students to be absent for a maximum of 30 hours, for valid reasons of course. But if you happen to be absent for over 30 hours, I will find a way for you to catch up so that sooner or later, through homework for instance, you can prove that you have indeed caught up.

• Tantra, The Path of Ecstasy by Georg Feuerstein, but later I will recommend you read Introduction to Tantra by Lama Yeshe and many others
• Vedanta, Heart of Hinduism by Hans Torwesten
• Anatomy book: any anatomy book with clear anatomy plates in colour.
To join my 200 hour TTCs you don't need any special preparation. There is no examination or any special requirement.
to join my 300 hour TTCs, you must have studied a 200-hour TTC already, from Yogayantra or from any other school, whatever the style.
My TTCs are deep and constructive, and I give all students guidance for ongoing studies.
Because yoga is not something you can learn in 200 hours, a TTC is just opening the door to the infinite world of Yoga. I help students as I would have liked to have been helped myself. Although I have taken many TTCs I never got any real guidance, especially in the field of philosophy. That’s why in my TTCs I do my best to provide this guidance, and after a TTC with me, you can always ask me questions through email. I always answer.
Yogayantra has another website, http://yogayantra.yolasite.com, when this one is blocked by some censorship!
By Amanda Carter, March 2011

WOMEN
Here's my tuppence worth.... tad on the wordy side I'm afraid, 2011.03.10
To my sisters and bloke sisters out there on Women’s Day + 1. So here we are with one whole day to focus on the good bad and ugly for women in this the twenty first century after Christ and 100 years on from the first Women’s Day . Seems it’s barely enough time to ask ourselves why feminism has become as F-word while a rampant sexist male is the leader of a developed European country who increases his popularity with vomit-producing displays of male chauvinism. Where is the outrage and bobbit attempt on the trouble-maker in Berlusconi’s pants? Dear me no, we cannot think such aggressive thoughts, it’s not feminine… no, no, we should merely cluck our tongues, roll our eyes and giggle a little at an old duffer’s foibles. I never cease to be amazed, baffled even, by the incredible patience, forgiveness, endurance and silence of the female of our species.
But I digress because today we celebrate the heroism and sacrifice of those women of past centuries who dedicated themselves to the women’s rights movement. Thanks to them our daughters and grand daughters will not be discouraged from a career because it’s deemed ‘unsuitable’. Thanks to them we are no longer owned by our fathers until we become the property of our husbands, nor do we have to vow to ‘obey’. Thanks to them we have some of the same freedoms as men. Hey, now we can:
• show our ankles thanks to that catalyst of emancipation, the humble bicycle (1890s)
• vote (1928)
• go to university (1920 Oxford, 1948 Cambridge)
• study medicine, law and engineering
• have a teaching career after marriage (1944)
• control our fertility (1967)
• divorce (1969)
• be guardians of our children (1971)
• go to court if we are discriminated against (1975)
• watch comedy without mother-in-law jokes or sexist put-downs (1980s)
• have higher expectations of the paternal role thanks to increased paid
• paternity leave (2002)
Join with me in a dream, dear sisters, that there will come a day when men take an equal share (not just a little nibble) of the responsibility for caring for their children, and when that day comes, fathers across the land shall call aloud for more childcare provision and support and every workplace shall have a creche.
And lo, dear sisters, when that time comes, the old chipped glass ceilings will be a relic of the past: they will feature as an installation in museums for future generations to ponder over the days of yore when gender inequality was the norm. And in this museum will be stuffed with the artifacts of female oppression: the visitor would be greeted with the shameful statistics that on twenty first century planet earth, women do 66% of the world's work but earn just 10% of the income and own 1% of the property. They would enter a room of advertising images objectifying the female body with a waxworks of size one models. There would be displays of garments of suppression and a cabinet devoted entirely to the stiletto - the shoe that we wore all day at the office despite it reducing our mobility to an arse wobbling mince and distorting uterus and spine… yes, we did it all balancing on those tiny pointed sticks like stilt-walkers. The ‘beauty’ room would show footage of the popular voluntary body mutilation surgery and examples of the toxic cosmetic products that cost fortunes and was slapped on our bodies, faces and hair to enhance our looks; and for comic relief there would be extracts of the vitriolic, gonad-protecting writings and speeches of the anti-feminist movement and clips of mainstream Hollywood cinema in which women simpered, pouted, screamed in fear or cried while the guys did stuff with guns or vehicles or medical equipment… or where tough, independent women are brought under control by marriage or should they refuse that status, they would meet their death.
While we wait for the dream to materialise, let’s continue to voice our outrage for those who are still subjected to violation:
•    the 22 million girls and women who undergo unsafe abortion each year, resulting in the death of 67,000 of them;
• the victims of rape…
• the 40 girls and women of the Congo who are raped every day
• the more than a million girls and women who live with the consequences of female genital mutilation
• the one in three (at least) women around the world who have been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused in her lifetime
• those living under regimes whose basic rights and freedoms are withdrawn by male authority in the name of religion
• and those many of us who are simply demeaned by the institutional misogyny of Chistianity, Islam and Judaism.
And give a thought for those of us in our green and pleasant land who continue to be discriminated against and disadvantaged, like:
• the Roman Catholic women who believe they have a calling to the priesthood: who are in every way fit for purpose excepting for their ownership of a vagina and lack of a penis, and who have upset some priests so much, they have hoisted up their skirts and fled the church in anger and disgust
• the girls in many co-ed state schools who, despite their learning being disrupted daily by attention-seeking boy behaviour, still manage to achieve
• the largely unpaid and invisible carers of the elderly and sick. With the current cuts in public services, many more of us will be compelled to be unpaid carers out of duty and necessity.
And while we acknowledge that we are the ones fortunate enough to have forged such lives for ourselves that would make our grandmothers proud, let’s turn our thoughts to the women of the developing world who do not yet have the same freedoms we enjoy.
It is awe-inspiring to watch the women of South America going about their daily lives: cooking food on the street and in the home; buying, weaving, washing, folding, mending, sometimes ironing clothes; combing, plaiting, decorating and styling their children’s and their hair; the women and young girls carrying babies and toddlers swaddled on their backs; the old women bent double carrying massive bundles of firewood, grasses for animal feed or goods to try to sell on the street corner day after day.
I see them in the markets working from dawn to dusk: cooking and serving; keeping one eye on their youngsters playing with empty boxes and used straws; stopping for a moment to breastfeed a little one; giving comfort to a crying child or settling one down for a nap in a box beneath her feet. They service we gringos in our hostels, cooking breakfasts, making beds, changing sheets, cleaning bathrooms and floors.
I see them labouring in the fields beside their men: digging, sowing, harvesting, The grandmother or great grandmother beating the backside of the last in line of the cows lumbering back to the paddock; sitting patiently all day under the beating sun watching the sheep, while spinning wool or knitting a garment. The hands of the indigena women are rarely still, even while walking they spin wool from a small spindle. There are the daughters whose families have made sacrifices so they can have education and opportunity, their oiled black hair slicked back in a bun or roll, not one wisp out of place. They teeter on the spikey heels of their black pointy shoes, with tight black skirts to the knee and seductively display cleavages, promising fertility and delight, nesting in ruffles, lace or gaping buttons. Seems this is evidence that here too, education, intelligence and capability alone would not be sufficient for these young women to secure good paying jobs. Even the women soldiers, traffic cops and policewomen wear their uniforms skin tight, their hair highly coiffured and faces covered with a thick spread of makeup.
I’ll jump down from this soap box now before I’m pushed, but one last thing… let’s join in a shout for a planet where all our daughters can walk safely wherever they wish, even after dark. A world where they can dress however they want without judgment; where they enjoy their natural born beauty and feel no need to alter their body shape or change their face in order to please men; where their intelligence and abilities are valued; where they are respected for their experience and wisdom when they become mothers and grandmothers and not rendered invisible; and above all where they are not violated, exploited or discriminated against.
So here’s a toast to us and how far we’ve come and to our resolve to keep the changes coming. Yes, you know we can, chicas.
Here endeth the lesson … and thanks for listening
Love, light and peace,
